Identifying and Selecting the Print Area in a Sheet in Excel 2010

In this article, we will learn how to identify & select the print area in a sheet in excel.

Each sheet has only one print area. When you select the print area, Excel creates a name for it called Print Area.

To set print area:

  • Select the range of data cells that you want to set as your print area.
  • Click on Page Layout ribbon
  • In Page Setup group, click on Print Area
  • Click on Set Print Area

Another way to set print area from Page Setup dialog box:

  • Click on Page Layout ribbon
  • From Page Setup group, click on Print Titles or click Dialog Box Launcher in the bottom-right corner of Page Setup group

  • Click on Sheet tab
  • In the Print Area box, type the reference of the cells that you want to use as your print area, such as A1:F10.

Click on Print Preview to check the set print area.

 

To set print area in Rows:

  • In Print titles
  • In the Rows to repeat at top box, type the reference as a title that you want to set. For example, $1:$1 for row 1.

To set print area in Columns:

  • In Print titles
  • In the Columns to repeat at left box, type the reference as a title that you want to set as a title. For example, $A:$B for columns A and B.

  • Click OK.

    In Page Setup, select Sheet, click Print Area.

    Select the first range to be printed

    Hold down the [Ctrl] key and select the second range to be printed

    Repeat step 2 for each additional range to be printed

    From the File menu, select Print...
    The Print dialog box appears.

    Under Print what, select Selection

    Click OK "
