Changing the Standard Font

Apart from the standard font style and font size in Microsoft Excel, there are various font style and different font size available. In this article, you’ll learn how we can change the standard or default font style and size in Microsoft Excel.

We have 2 ways to change the standard font:-

  • Temporary Change
  • Permanently change

 

How to change the font temporarily?

Let’s understand with a simple example:- We have prepared a sales report in which we want to show heading extra-large to the standard size and some where we want to change the font style.

First we will change the font style, follow below given steps:-

  • Select the heading
  • Go to Home tab
  • Under the font group you will find the option of font style option

  • From the list you can select any font style that will be applicable only for selection

Now we will change font size follow below given steps:-

  • Go to Home tab > Font group > Font Size

  • Select any font size that would be applicable only on selection

In the above image you see that we have changed font size and font style only for selected cell.

How to change the font permanently?

Follow below given steps:-

  • Click on file tab
  • Click on Excel options
  • In the General option we can change the font style and size permanently

  • After changing the standard font style and font size click on OK
  • When you will open new worksheet selected font style and size will work as standard font size and style
