How to use SIN function in Excel

In this article, we will learn about how to use SIN function in Excel.
SIN function is a Mathematical function to calculate Sine of the angle of the triangle.
124
Sine of an angle is the angle made by the side and hypotenuse
Sine(Angle()) = Adjacent side(=x)or base / hypotenuse(=z)
Syntax:

=SIN (number)

Number in radians or use Radians function to convert degrees to radians OR multiply the angle(in degrees) with PI()/180.
And the sine(angle) value ranges from -1 to +1.
Let’s understand this function using it an example.
125
These are the lengths of the Triangle having base, height and hypotenuse.
So we need to find the Sine of the Angle.
Use the formula:

=SIN(A2/C2)

126
Press Enter
127
As you can see the Sine of the angle of the triangle.

The above method was for having sides of the triangle. If you have the angle in degrees and you need to find the Sine of that angle.

Use the formula:

=SIN(RADIANS(30)
OR
=SIN(30 * PI()/180)

It will get you the Sine of the 30 degrees angle.
128
Press Enter
129
Using PI()/180 method
130
Press Enter
131
As you can see the Sine of the angle using SIN function.
